So a typical day waiting...
The door opens- regular couple waiting.
Have their beverages on table, verify they want their regular breakfast.
Turn, smile and welcome the next customers walking through the door.
Grab menus ( no host for 30 minutes) and seat the couple.
Get the beverages, put in order for regulars take syrup and Tabasco to table.
Go to new table and take order, put order in on computer. get automatics to table.
(syrup, catsup, tobasco, extra napkins, knife, whatever is needed)
Hurry to back of restaurant, do prep on first order and serve to table.
Refill beverages, go to back again start prepping for next table.
Notice new customers coming through door in mirror.
Smile , welcome, and seat new "down",
(that's what we call you, I've got a new down on table 2)
Get new drink order and food order, (oops you're in a hurry!)
Enter order in computer, run out earlier meal
get drink for that hurried customer, drop automatics
check back on earlier customers, refilling drinks as required.
Dropping checks on first and second tables, engaging in some chit-chat.
Run out order for customer in hurry and give him the check with the food as requested.
(whatever! you know the customer's always right!)
And on to the next new table.
I LOVE MY JOB!!!
Well that's how it started out and THEN it got real slow...
Hey, where is everyone?
Time stands still when it gets slow in a restaurant.
Oh well now I'm bored, so that's just a bit of one of my days.
Until next time ,
Thanks, hope to see you again soon.

I love the lingo that you're teaching us!
Truth be told, being a waitress is something that I have always wanted to do. Maybe I'll have to try it someday.
I can hear your cadence as I read this post...the happy part, the frazzled part, the I'm so bored now part... Love reading your posts! It's like being in the room with you.
