I WOULD never do that...sometimes I fear for the spit. I could never do what you do because I would start fighting with them. You MUST have patience, it's a good thing you're always so cheerful. But a $2 tip? Please--that is just plain WRONG.

I'm a big fan of decent or even big tipping if my server deserves it. $2 is pathetic!
